Tea for Two

How sweet it is to spend an afternoon visiting with a friend over a cup of tea with a scone, slice of cake, or a delicious cookie.

Hospitality is important in sharing the love of Christ with others. It focuses on how we may best serve others and make their visit comfortable.

Whether it is an evening with friends over a bowl of chili or a Thanksgiving dinner with all of the trimmings, what are some little ways that you like to make your guest(s) feel welcome, loved, special, etc.?

Why is hospitality so important? Probably the best way to examine that question would be to recommend a book to you: The Hospitality Commands, by Alexander Strauch. Here is a quote from his book:

"As brothers and sisters in Christ, we are to be a close-knit family. We are to be together, love one another, and care for one another. We cannot do this when our doors are closed. Hospitality, then, is a beautiful expression of our transformed lives being offered wholly to God … Since we are commanded to love one another as Christ loved us, we should not be surprised to find a New Testament command (Romans 12:9-13) to practice hospitality. It is something all Christians should do in obedience to God."
