Ruth Leeper's 7-Hour Stew

Makes: a lot!

  • 3 lb. stew meat
  • 3 large carrots, diced
  • 2 (14 oz) cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 pkg. frozen peas
  • 1 can green beans
  • quartered potatoes, as desired
  • 1 can beef consomme
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 4 T. tapoica (mix with consomme)
  • 1 T. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. bread crumbs
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1-1/2 T. salt
  • pepper to taste
Put in layers with meat in bottom. Bake for 7 hours at 250ºF.
