Chocolate Caramel Bars

  • One box German Chocolate Cake Mix
  • 1/2 c. softened butter
  • 1 egg

Mix above ingredients until crumbly. Save 1-1/2 cups of mix and set aside. Press the rest into the bottom of a greased 9x13-in. baking pan. Bake at 150ºF degrees for 10 minutes. Then cool for exactly 10 minutes.

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 (14 oz) bag of caramels

On the stove, melt above ingredients (you can do this in the microwave); stirring every minute. Pour over cooled crust. Drop remaining crumbs over top. Bake at 350ºF for 25 minutes.
