Brownie Mix & Brownies

Makes: 10 cups of Brownie Mix

Brownie Mix:

  • 4 c. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1-2/3 baking cocoa
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1-1/4 c. shortening
  • 2-1/2 c. pecans or chopped walnuts, if desired

Combine sugar, flour, baking cocoa and salt in a large bowl. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Add nuts and mix well. Store in an air-tight container in a cool, dry place or in the refrigerator.

Making the browines:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 2-1/2 c. brownie mix

Beat eggs and vanilla in a small bowl. Add brownie mix and mix well. Spread into a greased and cocoa (instead of flour) sprinkled 8-in. pan. Bake at 350ºF for 25-30 minutes. Cool and serve.
