Soft Pretzels

- 1-1/2 c. warm water
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 t. salt
- 4-1/2 c. flour
- 1/4 c. baking soda
- 1 c. cold water
- salt (table or coarse)
Preheat oven to 350ºF.
Warm 1-1/2 c. water to 110-115ºF. Add yeast, salt and 3-1/2 c. flour. Place 1/2 c. flour onto counter, kneading dough into it. Adding another 1/2 c. flour, if needed. Knead dough until smooth and let rest for 15 minutes. Separate dough into 12 equal pieces and roll with hands until they reach 8-10 inches long.
Put 1 c. cool water in mixing bowl. Put soda in water and let dissolve. One by one soak each rope in water for 2 minutes each. Take them out of the water and shape into a figure eight.
Place on a greased cookie sheet (don't allow them to touch). Bake in oven at 350ºF for 20 minutes.
