Amber's Lace Snowball Ornaments

Materials:
~ White Bedspread weight thread crochet thread
~ Size 7 (1.65mm) crochet hook
~ clear glass or shiney colored (2-1/2 inch round) ball ornament(s)

Round 1: Ch 5. Sl st in first chain.

R2: Ch3. 14dc. Sl st in top of ch3.

R3: Ch3. 1dc in bottom of ch3. In each dc make 2dc, around. Sl st in top of ch3.

R4: Ch8, *skip next dc. 1dc, ch5* 13 times. Ending with 1 dc, ch3, dc in 3rd loop of ch8.

R5: Ch4. 1dc, ch1, 1dc in bottom of ch4. *1dc, ch1, 1dc* around, in each ch5 space. Sl st in 3rd chain of first ch4.

R6: Ch4. Holding back last loop, 1tc in next two dc, yo, pull through loops. *Holding back last loop, 1tc in next 3dc, yo, pull through loops (this is a tc cluster), ch 5* repeat 13 times. Ch2, 1 dc in the top of first cluster.

R7: Ch4. 1tc, ch1, 1tc in bottom of ch4. *1tc, ch1, 1tc* in each ch5 space around. Sl st in 3rd chain of first ch4.

R8: Ch4. 1dc, ch1, skip next dc, 1dc. *1dc, ch1, skip next dc, 1dc, ch1, skip next dc, 1dc.* repeat around. Sl st in 3rd chain of first ch4.

R9: Ch4. Holding back last loop, 1tc in next two dc, yo, pull through all loops. Ch3. *1tc cluster, ch3* 13 times. 1tc cluster, ch1, 1dc in top of first cluster.

R10: Ch5. *1sc in next ch3 space, ch5* repeat around. Sl st in bottom of first ch5.

R11: Ch3. 1sc in next ch5 space. *Ch1, 1dc in next sc, ch1. 1sc in ch5 space* repeat around. Ch1, sl st in 3rd chain of first ch4. Sl st in next ch1 and 1sc spaces.

R12: Ch3. Holding back last loop, 1dc in next dc and sc spaces, yo over, pull through all loops. *Ch2. Holding back last loop, 1dc in previous sc space, 1dc in next dc space. 1dc in next sc space.* repeat around. Ch1, 1dc in top of first cluster.

R13: *Ch2, 1sc in ch2 space.* repeat around. Ch2, sl st in bottom of first ch2.

R14: Sc in each ch2 space, drawing it tight to close the remaining space below the cap/hook of the glass ball.

Tassle

Ch75. Fasten off. Loop around ornament hanger, knot. Set aside. Wrap thread around a 4-5 inch piece of cardboard, about 10 times. Gently slide off, neatly fold in half over the knot of your chain just made. Wrap thread around end closest to chain, about 5 times. Fasten off. Thread the two ends of the loop just made through a needle. Slide needle under loop. Smooth threads and cut a straight edge.
