Tips for Your Home

Washing Men's Caps

After machine washing caps (ball caps, seed dealer caps, etc.), lightly spray the inside of the cap with spray starch. Blow up a ballon on the inside of the cap and tie off. Let dry. You now have a crisp hat with it's original shape.

Streaks. Oh, which side of the window is it on?

Wash one side of your window from side to side and other side of the window from top to bottom, and you will be able to easily tell which side of your window the streak is on.

Grandma's Button Box

Anyone ever spent time looking for matched buttons? When discarding old garments, remove buttons, string them onto a thread and tie into a loop. When sewing a new garment, a set of matching buttons are together and ready to use. Store in an old tin, a box, or a jar.

Stale Car

To freshen a stale car interior, place a scented dryer sheet under the driver's seat.

Hanger Bumps

To prevent "hanger bumps" on the shoulders of knit shirts, hang shirts inside out.

Multi-purpose Diatomaceous Earth

Diatomaceous earth works well for not only preserving grain, but sprinkled carefully around the foundation of your house, it will help kill crickets, earwigs, slugs and worms (sprinkle around plants). Place anywhere bugs travel. Non-poisonous, but DO NOT inhale!
