Easy, Simple Skin Care
It is important to take care of the bodies that God gave us. I wanted to give some simple pointers for great skincare that is quick, simple and inexpensive.
Cleanser
Purchase an inexpensive white wash cloth (exfoliates wonderfully) and Dove soap. Lightly rub in circles across face and neck. Cleanse around mouth and nose last to avoid spreading germs around the face. Rinse. Rinse. Rinse.
Toner
Apply rose water(normal-dry), witch hazel (combination) or rubbing alcohol (oily) with a cotton ball. You can add essential oils to your toners to enhance your skin. Peppermint invigorates your skin. Lavender calms and sooths your skin. Allow to dry.
Mask
Use a mask 1-2 times a week, or as needed. There are all sorts of natural masks that you can use - 100% clay, egg whites (oily/combination) yogurt, fresh fruit, cucumber, pumpkin (sensitive skin). Allow to dry and rinse well. Commercial products often have fragrance or chemicals that irritate the skin.
Sunscreen/Moisturizer
Use a sunscreen and moisturizer combo of at least 15.
Eyes
Use an eye cream without petroleum as an ingredient.
Lips
Use a lipbalm that has sunscreen.
Dealing with Breakouts
1. Always follow a routine of washing your face morning and night. During the day splash your face with water.
2. Tie hair back, away from face.
3. Replace pillowcases daily.
4. Keep hands clean and away from face.
5. Never pick at face.
6. Use a natural remedy or benzoyle peroxide.
7. Avoid heavy make-up. If you do wear make-up use a sensitive line.
8. Drink plenty of water, avoid caffeine and carbonated drinks.
9. Avoid sugar, greasy foods and dairy products or take them out one by one and see which affects your skin.
I dealt with acne for years and ended up in the skincare business until I married. After 15 years of having acne, I realized that after taking away dairy products my skin cleared up for the first time in years.
