Week One

Patchwork

~ Carol Schuldt

  • The Lord makes of my life a patchwork quilt:
  • When I fall into a monotonous way of living, He either adds color, a new design, or something with a nap to challenge me.
  • If I become too busy with too many patterns, He adds a plain or colorless one to calm and soothe.
  • He turns my muslin into velvet.
  • My bits and pieces into beauteous order.
  • When my seams get stretched and ruffled, He eases them so that the corners meet.
  • He irons out the wrinkles.
  • He is my Thimble.
  • He uses the strong thread of love to hold everything together.
  • If a spot becomes worn or ragged, He patches it anew with the fabric of His care.
  • When I take Him for granted, He gently pricks my finger to remind me He has never left my side.
  • Just when I need it, I find a surprise--a spot of color or unexpected embroidery.
  • I wrap my life about me to use it to its fullest; and, am able to feel the warmth of His comforting arms through it.
