A Better Way

There is no return to the things we did
In the hours of yesterday.

But we can go forward to better things
And do them a better way.

We cannot retrace the steps we have made
Nor call back the words we said.

No, we cannot do things over again--
But we can do better instead.

"There is one exercise I can do with great ease-- Put my foot in my mouth without bending my knees."
