December 2005
Week One - Four
Although it may be a little ahead of time, it's not too early to GIVE some things away this Christmas. Not just on Christmas Day, but during the days leading up to December 25. We could call these daily gifts "our Christmas projects." Maybe one per day from now till then. Here are some suggestions.
Take your choice:
1. Mend a quarrel.
2. Seek out a forgotten friend.
3. Dismiss suspicion.
4. Write a long overdue love note.
5. Hug someone tightly and whisper, "I love you."
6. Forgive an enemy.
7. Be gentle and patient with an angry person.
8. Express appreciation.
9. Gladden the heart of a child.
10. Find the time to keep a promise.
11. Make or bake something for someone else (anonymously).
12. Release a grudge.
13. LISTEN
14. Speak kindly to a stranger.
15. Enter into another's sorrow.
16. Smile, laugh a little, laugh a little more!
17. Take a walk with a friend.
18. Kneel down and pet a dog or cat.
19. Read a poem or two to your mate or friend.
20. Lessen your demands on others.
21. Play some beautiful music during supper.
22. Apologize if you were wrong.
23. Talk together with the television turned off.
24. Treat someone to an ice-cream cone.
25. Do the dishes for the family.
26. Pray for someone you know is facing sickness or other trials at home or work.
27. Fix breakfast for someone on Saturday morning.
28. Give a kind and gentle answer even though you feel angry.
29. Encourage an older person.
30. Point out one thing you appreciate most about someone you work with or are near.
31. Offer to babysit for a weary mother.
32. Give your teacher a break--be especially cooperative.
33. Read the Christmas story--Luke 2:1-10 to your family.
34. Present someone with a gift of The Holy Bible.
35. Give thanks to God for the gift of His Son--Our Savior.
Let's make Christmas one long, extended gift of ourselves to others, unselfishly, without annoucement, or obligation, or reservation. That is how Jesus Christ gave of Himself. There can be no better model of how we are to live as "Christians."
