Grandma's Attic

~ In Memory of Margaret Marie Moeller ~
1919-1994

My Grandma Moeller was a very special lady. Whenever we would visit her, she would always greet us with a warm smile and a hug. Four things I remember most about my grandmother are: 1) she loved to do crossword puzzles; 2) after tucking us into bed, she used to say to us, "Good night, sleep tight, don't let the beddy bugs bite"; 3) her big hugs (they weren't like any average hug, they came with a squeeze, and a little side to side motion--like a shudder); and, 4) all the newspaper clippings that used to be on her refrigerator.

At our annual Moeller family reunion (2001), my aunt brought with her a scrapbook full of newspaper clippings that my grandma had saved. My aunt told me that my grandma was always saddened to think that once she was gone, all the clippings would just sit in a box somewhere and never be thought of again. My aunt, in her spare time over the years, pasted all of the clippings into a scrapbook.

It was so precious to flip through the many pages, reading what my grandma thought was wonderful enough to save. It told me more about my grandma's heart, in a way, and I don't want that to be lost.

It is here that I will share with you a weekly tidbit from the scrapbook. I pray that in sharing them with you, my grandma's "wisdom" may live on, as well as her memory.
