Home Business Ideas?

My daughter is 15 and I would like to encourage her in the area of a home business. Do you have any ideas? Or can you refer me to any information on possible ideas?

There are many wonderful things that your daughter could do as a home-business, but what that is would depend on what her gifts and talents are. She could do practically anything. For example: if she knows how to crochet, she can make unique crocheted items and sell them at craft shows, antique shops, farmer's market, etc. What I mean by unique is: items that are beautiful but are things that not a lot of people are making and things that people would be interested in buying.

She could even give lessons in something that she enjoys doing, such as: sewing, piano, crocheting, knitting, cross-stitch, embroidery, drawing, painting, weaving, basket making, and so on. If she enjoys sewing, she could even make clothing for the children of a busy mother who doesn't have the time to do it herself. I wish I could give you more specific ideas, but I do not know your daughter's gifts and talents.

I'm not familiar with any books on home business for children, so I did a little research on the internet. I came across a few books that might be worth checking in to. Please note that I haven't personally looked through/read these books, but it might give you a good starting point.

Chris Davis (a Christian homeschool dad/speaker) suggests "Minding Your Own Business" by Raymond and Dorothy Moore. "It discusses how creating home businesses for children establishes the context for them to value work, money, possessions, and family. The first section deals with raising financially responsible children. The last is on businesses that can include children. The Moores list page after page of businesses that are suitable for children and give testimonies about successful young entrepreneurs."

"Home Style Teaching" is also by Raymond and Dorothy Moore. "This excellent book for beginning homeschoolers outlines how to organize and get started teaching your children. It includes Dr. Moore's philosophy on why you should teach your children to work and a list of ideas for home businesses for children."
