Blessings of Hospitality

First allow me to thank you for your wonderful web site! I happened upon it through a web ring. I only want to encourage those women who may not have a lot of " pretty things" like myself, to muster the courage to be hospitable when ever the opportunity arises. I have come to be complimented, not on my china, furnishings, wall hangings, etc., but on the presence of God's love and peace sensed in my home. I have taught my four children, one girl and three boys, to treat anyone visiting in our home with respect and be a servant of Jesus Christ to them. This has blessed those who have entered our home with a much more lasting impression than any china could. Just my perspective on hospitality.

You make a very wonderful point. My parents have often spoken of one of their most meaningful times of fellowship was when a couple invited our family of six home for dinner after visiting their church for the first time. The house was not "company" tidy and the meal was a quick one of hot dogs, box macaroni and cheese and ice cream. What ministered to them was that the spirit of Christ was there and they were considered more important than the condition of the house or the quality of the fare. What a special adventure it can be to offer a touch of loveliness to the simplest home with some garden-picked fresh or dried flowers in a kitchen glass and a warm heart filled with Christ's love.
